Pelswick

Characters

Pelswick Eggert: Pelswick’s a 13-year-old 8th grader with a sharp tongue, a healthy suspicion of authority and a complete lack of fear. Oh, and no feeling below his armpits. Yeah, he uses a wheelchair (like you’ve never seen a wheelchair used, believe us), but that’s kinda beside the point. See, Pelswick’s the kid who GETS IT—he knows which jokes are funny, which rules are useless, and exactly how far he can push bully Boyd Scullarzo before there’s an “incident.” He plays sports, he draws cartoons, and he gets in heaps of trouble with his best friends, Ace Nakamura and Goon Gunderson. He’s even got an elephant-sized crush on a girl named Julie Smockford. So keep an eye out for Pelswick and clear the way!

Ace Nakamura: Ace is one of Pelswick’s two best friends. If Goon is the muscle of the outfit, Ace has got it goin’ on upstairs. He’s full of obscure facts and references. He’s also totally loyal to Pelswick—he even tends to take wild rides around the neighborhood on the back of the little speed demon’s wheelchair.

Goon Gunderson: Goon is Pelswick’s other best friend, and definitely NOT the brains of the outfit. But despite his hulking size and seeming dim-bulb status, Goon is actually a sweet, gentle and sensitive giant. Goon is a great and loyal friend to Pelswick, but his first love, it must be stated, is professional wrestling. Watch for an episode in which he gets to achieve his life’s dream and go up against a real pro wrestler.

Julie Smockford: Pelswick’s ultimate crush, Julie’s a true post-millennial woman—tough, smart and totally independant. Often engaged in an impassioned campaign against some social injustice or other, she adores Pelswick, but alas, just as a friend. Her only fault may be that she thinks Boyd Scullarzo and his bully crew are awful, but, you know, sorta cute too.

Boyd Scullarzo: Bully-o-rama! This dude has perfected the art of thuggery. He’s the Zen Master of Bullydom. Boyd to Pelswick: “I couldn’t hit you, so I had to get creative. I had to specialize. Now I’m focusing exclusively on psychological torture and humiliation.” Truly chilling.

Nick: One of Boyd’s henchmen, Nick’s fun to be around—if you enjoy being pummeled and/or humiliated.

Joe: Another one of Boyd’s henchmen, he’s a real hoot if you’re into wedgies, etc.

Sandra Scoddle: Julie’s best friend Sandra is also smart, funny, independent and strong willed. IN FACT, she’s so similar to Julie, they often have thermonuclear fights. Though they can declare themselves mortal enemies at any moment, they always seem to make up in the next. Sandra differs from Julie only in that she’s usually annoyed by Pelswick’s antics.

Vice Principal Zeigler: This guy has about as much control over his school as most people have over sneezing. He’s perpetually nervous, absent minded, and generally pretty clueless. Other than that, he’s top notch.

Gram-Gram (Priscilla Eggert): She can’t hear or chew very well, but she’ll introduce you to the pavement if you mess with Pelswick. This is a lady who played fullback for her high school football team. Who enjoyed a successful career as a professional wrestler. Who digs hang gliding, skateboarding and scuba diving in the lobster tank at the super market. And who has been known to fully immerse herself in mud, Green Beret-style, in order to spy on and ambush bullies who mess with Pelswick. Pelwick’s grandmom is one tough old bird.

Quentin Eggert: You know how some people always try to see both sides of every argument, and really respect everybody involved, and never, ever offend anybody, or say anything even remotely mean or opinionated, or burp? Pelswick’s dad is all of those people rolled into one times 50. He says things like “This is my chance to be creatively proactive, while respecting the unique personhood of my enemies and remembering that nobody’s wrong, they’re just differently right!” He’s kind of a wimp. Except when it comes to his family. Then you definitely don’t want to mess with this Mr. Milquetoast.

Kate Eggert: In Pelswick’s opinion, his younger sister Kate could charge mosquitos top dollar to attend a seminar on “How To Be A Pest.” But like her big brother, she has a great sense of humor and she loves to play practical jokes and stir things up. She also collects Teenage Backstreet Lizard Girl dolls, FYI.

Bobby Eggert: Pelswick’s younger brother Bobby is two years old and spends most of his time on his dad’s chest, in one of those baby sling thingees you always see babies hanging out in these days. Not a big talker, Bobby speaks in one word sentences

Mister Jimmy: Voiced by David Arquette of “Scream” and “Ready To Rumble” fame, Mr. Jimmy is Pelswick’s guardian angel. Whenever Pelswick’s in a jam, and sometimes when he’s not, Mr. Jimmy shows up and gives him totally unintelligible (but somehow still wise and insightful) advice. He also tends to make lame attempts at stand-up comedy, which, if you’re familiar with guardian angels, is not uncommon.
